the director of Radio Shabelle
Bashir Nur Gedi, director of the Somali radio station Shabelle, was killed by unidentified gunmen in the capital Mogadishu. Gedi is the eighth Somali journalist to lose his life this year, making Somalia the most dangerous place in the world, after Iraq for journalists. Last August, two gentlemen of the issuer HornAfrik were killed after two days of each other, always in Mogadishu. The civil war in Somalia, which erupted in 1991 and whose legacies continue even today, has so far caused at least half a million deaths.
